The first-ever KBPH Book Club meet just happened, and honestly, I’m still on a high from it! I can proudly say it was a total success.
It all came together in less than a month of planning with my fellow moderators from KBPH and Tayo Spaces. Some of my teammates were people I had only met on Zoom before, so finally meeting them in person felt so special. You know that feeling when online friends suddenly become real-life friends? That was exactly it!
We prepared little goodies for all the attendees, and seeing their happy faces when they received them made all the effort worth it. We started the day with some free time to roam around, mingle, and check out the cool products from our amazing partner merchants Soteria PH, Kindle Kicks, Cutie Curie, Lit Lounge by Patricia, and of course, books from our talented authors.
Then the fun really began! We kicked things off with a lively Bring Me game, such a classic, and it never fails. The members were so competitive (in a fun way!) and started winning goodies right away. It definitely set the tone for the rest of the day.
Next up was a chapter reading by Kyra Ysabel from her new book Between Love and War. It was such a treat to listen to her read live. I ended up hosting that part impromptu totally unplanned but super fun!

After that, we invited our lovely authors Carina Gaskell and Anj Miranda for a Q&A session. They talked about how they name their characters, their writing process, and their favorite genres. I loved how our book club members also got to ask their own questions, it made the session feel so warm and personal.
We then had our lunch (which everyone had pre-ordered during sign-ups). It was a nice break to sit, eat, and just chat with fellow book lovers.
To wrap up the day, we had our discussion for the September book of the month, Picking Daisies on Sundays. Members shared their thoughts, favorite parts, and even some emotional takes — it was beautiful to hear how differently the story resonated with each person.
We ended the event with more social time — laughing, taking photos, exchanging contacts, and just soaking in the good vibes.
I’m so grateful to Tayo Spaces for the lovely venue, our wonderful authors for joining us, all the book club members who made the event so special, and Damayan Cafe for the support.
Here’s to many more KBPH bookish moments ahead!
Here's a short reel to sum the event!
