In celebration of Philippine Independence Day, SM City Valenzuela opened its doors to thousands of job seekers through the Kalayaan Job Fair on June 11, providing access to 2,190 local and overseas employment opportunities.
Held in
partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the
Valenzuela City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the one-day hiring
event gathered 30 local companies and an international recruitment agency
offering positions across various sectors, including retail, manufacturing,
food service, construction, industrial services, administration, information
technology, and business process outsourcing (BPO).
The job fair
forms part of the nationwide Araw ng Kalayaan Job Fair program spearheaded by
DOLE and SM Supermalls, reinforcing efforts to connect Filipinos with
meaningful employment opportunities while supporting economic growth and
workforce development.
Fresh
graduates, first-time job seekers, returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs),
career shifters, and experienced professionals took part in the event, with
several participating employers conducting on-site interviews and offering
immediate hiring opportunities.
To further
streamline the application process, a one-stop pre-employment services hub was
made available at the venue. Government agencies and partner institutions
provided assistance for employment-related requirements, including SSS,
Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Bureau of
Internal Revenue (BIR) documents. Services related to overseas employment, such
as DMW PEOS, DMW MRD, OWWA assistance, and TESDA certifications, were also
accessible to applicants.
The
initiative highlights the continued collaboration between the public and
private sectors in making employment services more accessible and convenient
for Filipinos.
Following
the SM City Valenzuela leg, the Independence Day hiring campaign continues at
SM Center Sangandaan on June 12, where another job fair will be held as part of
the nationwide observance of Araw ng Kalayaan.
SM
Supermalls remains committed to creating opportunities for Filipinos through
regular job fair initiatives that serve as vital employment gateways, helping
job seekers connect with potential employers and pursue long-term career
growth.
